FAULT TOLERANCE
A well-designed fault tolerance scheme for an IT solution avoids downtime if any infrastructure component fails. This has to be dealt with at the earliest stage of architecture design, not postponed until the project is already live, when any downtime threatens the loss of clients, reputation and money.
HIGH LOAD
If the infrastructure design does not allow for the IT solution to scale in the future, when the load grows, it can end in the unpleasant surprise of having to rebuild everything from scratch at a more serious scale, which of course brings serious and irreversible financial and human costs.
REDUNDANCY
The question of backing up key data, software configurations and images of systems with unique settings can of course be raised after the project has been deployed, but data volumes, their growth rate and other parameters need to be assessed while the architecture is still being designed. This helps select the capacity for the IT solution more efficiently.
